Acne Scar Treatment in Oxfordshire

Scarring is a natural part of the skins healing process, they can result from trauma to the skin, diseases such as chicken pox, poor healing of acne and picking of spots. Other scarring could be due to post surgery, such as a caesarean scar.

There are different kinds of scars. Most scars are flat and pale. However, in cases when the body produces too much collagen, scars can be raised. Raised scars are called hypertrophic scars or keloid scars. Pigmented scarring can occur as a result of aggressive skin treatments or in the presence of inflammation which is commonly found in darker skin types.

Can scars be treated?

Depending on the nature of the scar significant improvements can be seen and will require more than one treatment with different treatment modalities. Post treatment care is so important to enable good healing resulting in a good outcome.

In the case of too much collagen being produced such as a keloid scar then treatment is a contraindication.
