Micro-Needling Treatment in Oxfordshire

What is micro-needling?

Micro-needling is known by many other names such as, Skin Needling, Dermal Rollering or Collagen Induction Therapy. It has distant origins in Chinese acupuncture, but in 1995 Orentreich et el published the results of a needling procedure that stimulated collagen induction around depressed scars and wrinkles. It is now a very popular and safe procedure when carried out by a qualified practitioner. It also requires very minimal downtime.

Micro-needling is a procedure that involves the use of a mechanical device with multiple needles, when passed over the skin the device comfortably creates tiny puncture wounds (controlled wounding) within the skin to trigger the body’s natural wound healing process.

This process results in skin re-modelling, by means of increase collagen production and strengthening of elastin’s, the foundation or mattress that provides the skin it’s youthful support and structure.

Whom is micro-needling recommended for?

Micro-needling is recommended for all skin types, but healing and treatment outcomes vary with everyone. This depends on several factors, such as age, lifestyle, diet, and medical history, therefore skin preparation and consistent use of recommended homecare is key to a good successful healing process.

What are the benefits of micro-needling?

Over time you will see much improvement in many skin conditions such as sun damage and ageing skins, fine lines and wrinkles, rough and uneven skin texture, acne, and acne scarring, scarring in general, hyper and hypo pigmentation, redness and rosacea.

Great results can also be achieved on other parts of the body such as the hands, tummy and decolletage. It is also a great treatment for improving the appearance of stretch marks and cellulite.

How many treatment are needed?

Four or six treatments are generally recommended but, in my clinic, I love to use micro-needling as part of a treatment program, alongside of other treatment modalities. Combination treatments has proven to work on different layers of the skin and improving treatment outcomes.

What is a micro-needling device? Do I use it in my clinic?

In my clinic I use a mechanical device called the SkinPen Precision
SkinPen is the UK's first FDA approved medical class II mechanical micro-needling device. Its patented micro-needling cartridge offers unsurpassed safety.

The only 100% completely sealed cartridge on the market to prevent fluid intake so removing any possibility of cross contamination. The cartridges are single use and the whole unit is protected with a disposable bio-sleeve during the treatment process. When treating my clients, safety and cross infection control are priority.
